For this international competition win we worked in association with James Ferrie and partners to deal with local rules and regulations. Architects were invited from around the region to compete.

The NKF was originally set up to deal with Kidney dialysis which was not treated under the local health care. The NKF moved on to become a leader in preventative medicine and this building was designed to cater for the many visitors from around the world and special medical units for research. Options are shown for a covered walkway linking the existing building. The design incorporates a light tower for the night: a beacon for their leading edge status.

The new building was very much deigned to compliment and respect the existing structure and located so as not to block views in fact rather frame them and minimize the visual appearance of the local housing estate. The overall project created a family of buildings with a new more modern image, and sophisticated sun screens to cope with the tropical temperatures…
